Fuerza’s Mural Unveiling
Neighborhood Mural to be Unveiled in Sherman Heights
Sherman Heights community leaders will unveil a 20-foot long mural painted in collaboration by youth with the direction of Muralist Mario Torero as part of a neighborhood beautification project honoring local civil rights activists.
The mural is part of a comprehensive “Neighborhoods First” plan, spearheaded by community leaders and the Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC), to help revitalize the Greater Logan Heights neighborhood and preserve local history and culture.
The African American/Latino-themed mural honors Dr. Jack Kimbrough (1908-1992), a Logan Heights dentist and civil rights activist who established an office near where the mural is now displayed. The mural also pays tribute to Cesar Chavez.
